What Is CryptX?

CryptX is the flagship inter-university tech competition hosted by ICTS, Faculty of Technology, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. It's the only event in Sri Lanka where a Hackathon, Designathon, and Capture The Flag run simultaneously — giving university students one arena to build, design, and hack their way to the top.

    Designathon University Workshop

    Designathon

    An introductory session on UI/UX principles and design tools to help Designathon participants prepare for the challenge ahead.

    Registration Closes

    Final deadline for registrations across all tracks. Complete your submission before the window closes.

    Awareness Sessions

    Awareness and orientation sessions roll out across all tracks — helping every participant understand the rules, platforms, and what to expect before preliminary rounds begin.

    Preliminary Rounds

    Qualifying rounds begin simultaneously across all three tracks for Hackathon and Designathon teams, while CTF teams start their qualifier challenges on the 28th.

    Grand Finale

    The Grand Finale — finalists from the Hackathon, Designathon, and CTF converge on-site to compete in front of judges for top honours.

Everything you need to know about eligibility, rounds, venue, and registration.

Any student currently enrolled in a school in Sri Lanka is eligible for the school category. Students who have completed their A/L examinations are only eligible for the school category, they cannot enter the university category. Team members do not need to be from the same school.

It is advised not to register for all three events, as the final rounds will take place on the same day, at the same venue, and at the same time. However, if you wish to participate in the initial rounds of multiple tracks, you are free to do so at your own discretion. Please note that if you qualify for the final rounds of more than one track, you will be required to choose only one track to compete in.

No. There are no restrictions on team composition. Members can be from different universities, different faculties, or different years of study — all are welcome.

All preliminary rounds are conducted online, so you can compete from anywhere. Only the final round is held in person, on April 4th, 2026, at the Faculty of Technology, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

The final round for all tracks takes place on April 4th, 2026, at the Faculty of Technology, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Since all finals are on the same day and at the same venue, teams that qualify in multiple tracks can only attend one final in person.

The Hackathon and Designathon are free to enter. The CTF charges Rs. 3,000 per team or Rs. 2,000 for a solo entry. Payment is made via bank transfer and a payment slip must be uploaded during registration.

The team leader completes a single registration form on behalf of all members. Double-check every member's details before submitting, as corrections after submission may take time.

Absolutely. Workshops covering each track are run before the preliminary rounds and are designed for beginners with no prior experience required. Everyone is encouraged to register and attend.
